My Story
​
Shonte' Truitt Gamble has been working in the field of special education for the past 10 years. Her educational background includes a Bachelors in Psychology, a Masters in Social Work with a concentration of social justice and schools, and a Director of Special Education license. She currently serves as Special Education Coordinator for a high needs school overseeing special education, 504 plans, discipline for Diverse Learners, MTSS, and transition planning. Her career started in the field of school psychology where she found a love for working with students and families, as well as a passion for learning about special education law and procedures.

After her tenure as a school social worker, Shonte' found herself moving toward administration, where she served as Social Emotional Interventionist. Before her most recent role as Special Education Coordinator, Shonte' worked as a behavior therapist for an agency partnered with the State of Indiana supporting clients , families and educators with behavior plans and strategies . Shonte' is currently a member of the Illinois Council for Exceptional Children and Illinois Association of School Social Workers. Shonte' also served on the membership board of the Dupage County NAACP, where she supports youth and community initiatives.

Over the course of her career, Shonte' has gained expertise in all aspects of IEP development, the special education process, and procedures. These include, but are not limited to, interventions, the domain process, evaluation, eligibility, development of the IEP, transition planning, and discipline of students who have been identified, or not yet identified, as having a disability.
Her greatest accomplishments include The Handshake Initiative, The New Superhero Initiative and her Perfectly Imperfect series. programs she has collaborated to create and the relationships she has built with families, students, and staff. Shonte' has a knack for collaborative problem-solving and helping teams come to a consensus to best support diverse learners. Focusing on the student should always be what the process is about.
